Stand Out

I was inspired to make this book from personal experiences as well as experiences in the classroom. I was diagnosed with OCD when I was just 7 years old and I had difficulty making friends in school because I didn’t talk about it with other students. I also am studying to become a teacher and I work with young students who have learning disabilities or are diagnosed with mental and/or behavioral disabilities. There are not many children’s books that cover this subject so I decided that I wanted to make a book that children that have to deal with the same problems that I dealt with as a child can read this book and know that things will get better. Especially if they are more open with their peers and explain to their friends what is happening and that their “disability” does not make them any different than anyone else.
